Cayde-6, Uldren Sov, and the Birth of Crow

The death of Cayde-6 at the hands of Uldren Sov is something that shocked many of us in a game that really lacked characters with his charm and charisma. Cayde-6 was a beloved character and many were left wondering why Bungie felt compelled to kill him off. And, as if to add insult to injury, Bungie quickly had us using a time machine to save someone who had yet to make an appearance beyond quest lore. Most would have preferred to just go back in time and save Cayde-6.

After Cayde-6’s murder, our character tracks down Uldren Sov and kills him in both an act of revenge, and to keep him from causing more harm. While Uldren’s body was lying in a shrine and covered with a sheet, a ghost in search of their new guardian resurrects Uldren, effectively making him a light bearer. As much as the Destiny 2 community would love to take out their anger on Uldren, a guardian’s initial resurrection usually purges them of their memories. Therefore, the guardian that arose from that shrine was not Uldren, but a new light bearer who soon discovers that he is immediately the target of hate and anger. His new name is Crow, and we are about to find out how we will react to his introduction into our character’s story.
